Welcome to the third ENCUENTRO CLASSIC, to be held on April 4th and 5th,1998 at the Playa Encuentro, Cabarete, Dominican Republic. The Encuentro Classic is a combination of Surfing and Windsurfing event, to find out who will be the Master of the Ocean. It is open to all and it should be an exciting challenge for competitors and a spectacular show to watch.

1- Disciplines: There will be three disciplines;

a) Master of the Ocean, an overall scoring of surfing and windsurfing ( wave event) combined results.

b) Surfing event will be scored independantly and will have its own winners.

c) Windsurfing wave event will be scored independantly and will have its own winners.

2- Divisions: There will be a division for men and women and also
a category for Junior and for Master on each discipline raced.

3- Fun Event: There will be a long distance race between Cabarete
and Encuentro, it will be sailed but not as a point scoring discipline.

4- Registration: Mandatory for all competitors and will take place on
April 2nd. 1998, from 18:30 hours to 22:00 hours at Café Atlantico and
April 3rd, 1998, from 18:30 hours to 21:30 hours at Tiki Bar, the registration cost is: 150 $rd.

5- Racers' Meeting: The first event’s meeting for the surfers will be held on Saturday April 4th at Encuendro Playa at 7:00 hours and the Long Distance meeting for windsurfers will be held on Saturday April 4th at Cabarete ( front of New Wave) at 13:30 hours. The first meeting for the wave event participants will be held on Saturday at 14:30 at Playa Encuentro.

6- Competition: Competition for both, surfers and winsurfers will take place the 4th and 5th of April 1998, with the first possible start for surfers on Saturday at 7:30 hours and at 14:45 hours for windsurfers.

7- Elimination Format: Will be for surfers, a series of single elimination, the format will decided depending on numbers of participants..
For windsurfers, the wave contest will be a double elimination ladder.
The long distance is a recreational event, see special instructions.

8- Storage: Available for racers at no cost from Saturday to Sunday with security 24 hours a day.

9- Awards Presentation: Will take place at the event site on Sunday the 5th at 17:30 hours and it is compulsory for all participants.

10- Entry Applications: Will be handled by the organizing committee.

11- The official language of the event is SPANISH.

14- Equipment transportation: Transportation for equipment will be available from Cabarete on Saturday at 6:30 hours and at 10:30 hours and from Encuentro to Cabarete on Saturday at 17:30 hours.
Same schedule for Sunday.

15- Shuttle bus: Will leaves Cabarete at the half and at the hour from Caribic Center and from Sosua at the half hour and at the hour from Productos Sosua both sarting at 6:30 hours till 18:00 hours.
