hello, wondered if anyone can help, Im in the uk in manchester at the moment and am coming to the dom. Rep for easter, i have just found out i need a tourist card to enter the country. ive also been informed that the queues are quite long when u enter the country so its advisable to get the tourist card in advance in the uk. Ive spoken to my travel agency but they just said get them when u arrive and im having no joy on the phone numbers trying to get some info, so basically wot im asking is can anyone tell me an addrss where i can get or send for my tourist card or a phone number that is constantly not engaged. anything that helps i will be grateful for, thanx for your advice in advance

stuart.

Also we are staying in playa dorada at the occidental playa dorada can anyone tell me wot they think or thought of it

Buy the card at the airport, $10 US per person no waiting.
5 minutes to fill it out.

Bubba is correct. The time it takes to fill out the form and then wait in line is minimal compared to any immigration counter in the USA. However, bring a pen with you - they are a hot item. And then you will probably have to wait for your luggage to come anyway.

Have a nice trip.

Dear Stuart, Have you been to the website www.hispaniola.com
I am reading the rough guide to the DRand that says get it at the arrival airport.
It will cost US10 dollars. There is also a tax when you leave the DR of US20 dollars. My husband and I are going in may let me know how it was. Susan

I have just returned from Cabarete, I wrote to the DR consulate in Liverpool and pre bought our visa's but as others have said it did not appear to be a problem at the airport [Punta Plata].
This rates as one of the best holidays I have ever taken.
The weather & people were both excellent.

We went 18 months ago and had a Brilliant time.

Got out tourist card before we went- glad we did as when we arrived it was Very Busy.  About 3 big jets arrived at very much the same time. That was lot of people.

A lot of people stood/sat on floor filling out forms . we just sailed through.

Going back in September and staying at the Gran Ventana Beach Hotel again.

Dont buy anything of the beach sellers , you can buy the same items in the shops a lot cheaper. They will pester you a lot .

Correct address has already been given by another on here replying BUT you need to ensure that you give arrival and departure date and ensure it is a postal order as they dont accept cheques. Also you will need to send a stamped addressed envelope or you wont get it back. Fee is ?8 english pounds
We have just received ours. Any more info needed then email me on Belindaanne29@aol.com

My daughterand friend are going to Puerta Plata on March 19th.  We live in Massachusetts, and I was wondering where I could get them each a Toursit Card before they leave for their trip.  If anyone knows the answer or could just give me some info I would appreciate it so much.  Thanks!!!

All visitors need a tourist card (which you can get at the airport), including Americans.

Cheapest trasportation: it depends where your hotel is located. But assuming that it is not too far from the Puerto Plata airport, the cheapest way would be to walk out to the main street (10 minutes) and take local transportation. Although I would not really recommend this, it is the cheapest. Otherwise, take a taxi.
